Resumen de O Cangaceiro: estilos híbridos para un espacio nacional cinematográfico
Although the Vera Cruz Film Company was generally underestimated, this study suggests that it was responsible for establishing the basis for future Brazilian productions. Its ninth film, O Cangaceiro (1953), directed by Lima Barreto, incorporated a multitude of foreign practices to create an emblematic image of Brazil. Thus reconstructing history as a national myth, O Cangaceiro clears the way for the cinematographic representation of Brazilian reality.
