  • Resumen
    • Throughout the history of cinema there have been a few minor works that, while appearing not to adjust to the canons of any particular school or movement, have nonetheless taken on mythical status. The present article discusses why the work of Jean Vigo has acquired such status, given that it operated outside the norms and styles of French cinema in the 1930s. The Vigo mystery has its basis in the fact that Vigo’s cinema expands beyond the limits of the era in which it was created, and all of Vigo’s three main works –with the exception of La Natation par Jean Taris– may be considered groundbreaking. Our aim here is to examine abstract the expansive influence of the work of Jean Vigo.
