  • Resumen
    • How many translation systems in the world are available for translating from and/or into Chinese?. This has been the first question that we asked ourselves. The answer is 49. And we found out that most of them are devolted to the translation between Chinese and English. Only 8 of them translate between Chinese and French. Secondly, are they able to produce well-construted target texts?. As all of the systems are not available to us during our research, we only tested 14 systems in order to evaluate their capabilities in translating between Chinese and English and eventually between Chinese and French. From a user's point of view, it has been exciting to discover the accuracy of some of the sustems under our test. Nevertheless, most of them create poor results. In addition, the two online translators available in Chinese-French and French-Chinese translation adopte an indirect approach, that is, translating throughout English. Our conclusion is that concerning Chinese, most of the translation systems still have a long way to go. However, they can be quite uselful in giving a rough idea of the information -instead of nothing at all.
