  • The number of higher education event management academic programs located in hospitality, tourism and business schools around the world is growing. Yet, there remains a lack of clarity regarding what is included and what is not included in event management curriculum. We assess the state of sophistication and professionalization, benchmarked against Abbott's Systems of Professions (1988); examine the drivers of this growth area; and suggest advancing the level of professionalization through curriculum and program development.
