Resumen de Cross-Cultural Knowledge, Attitudes and Experiences of Hospitality Management Students

Marcia Taylor, Laura McArthur

  • This study assessed the cross-cultural knowledge, attitudes, and experiences of junior and senior hospitality management students using survey methodology. The students showed a low awareness of the food-related customs and foods of other cultures and harbored positive attitudes toward learning more about these topics and toward ncluding more of this information in the hospitality management curriculum. Experiences regarded as most use-ful for learning about other cultures were spending time in another country and conversing with others who had spent time abroad. The findings suggest a need for more learning opportunities that would enhance cross-cultural awareness among future professionals in the hospitality industry
