The April 2010 problem scenario challenges students to use information from a graph to determine the number of pizzas needed for a class party. Recognizing a golden opportunity, Harmien Dionne presented this problem to her class of fourth graders in the officially bilingual town of Grand Falls/Grand-Sault, New Brunswick, Canada. The end of the school year was approaching, and they were planning a pizza party of their own. At the same time, she and her students were working on fractions in math class.
