O texto que se segue apresenta os principais passos do processo de surgimento do movimento SIEMAI (Simpósio Internacional Música Artes Interculturais) a partir do CIMA (Centre for Intercultural Music Arts). Nele são explicitados os princípios fundadores do movimento e esboça-se uma história dos principais eventos a ele ligados, nomeadamente, antes da sua existência como SIEMAI, e perspetivam-se os próximos projetos e eventos a realizar. Apresentam-se igualmente as principais produções efetuadas no âmbito deste movimento, como sejam as suas publicações e o Encontro Arte e Cultura Populares.

The following text describes the main steps in the process leading from CIMA (Centre for Intercultural Music Arts) to the creation of SIEMAI (Simpósio Internacional Música Artes Interculturais). We explain the founding principles of the movement and outline a history of the outstanding events connected to it, that is, before its explicit existence as SIEMAI, as well as forthcoming projects and events. We also present the main publications and research projects carried out within this movement.
