    A partir del S.XVII, la ciencia moderna experimental deslegitimó aquellos �saberes� que imposibilitaban el desarrollo �positivo� de la sociedad. Así, la racionalidad instrumental, sobre la base del método inductivo, consideró pseudociencia todo conocimiento carente de fundamento empírico. Por tanto, básicamente, la producción de conocimiento dependió de la experimentación controlada y de las observaciones neutrales. Estas convenciones conformaron también el núcleo racional hegemónico de las Ciencias Sociales, fundando explicaciones teórico-epistemológicas de carácter estructural. Por lo tanto, en este breve trabajo pretendo explicar los supuestos epistemológicos inherentes a la racionalidad del método etnográfico, describiendo propuestas tanto realistas como las denominadas �postmodernas�, a fin de interpretar en sus �fundamentos� si trata de una técnica de investigación de recolección de datos o de un corpus teóricometodológico con implicaciones epistemológicas durante la descripción, explicación y comprensión de lo real-concreto.

    From the XVII century, the modern experimental science delegitimize that knowledge that impeded the �positive� development of society. This way, the instrumental rationality, on the basis of the inductive method, considered all knowledge lacking empirical foundation as a pseudo-science. Therefore, the production of knowledge, basically depended on the controlled experimentation and on the neutral remarks. These conventions also shaped the rational hegemonic nucleus of the Social Sciences, founding theoretical - epistemological explanations of structural character. Thus, through this brief reflection, I try to explain the epistemological assumptions inherent to the rationality of the ethnographic method, by describing not only the realistic propositions, but also the so called �postmodern proposals�, in order to interpret, by means of its �essentials�, if this method is a research technique for gathering information, or if it is a theoretical-methodological corpus with epistemological implications along the description, explanation and comprehension of the real - concrete thing.
