    El tema de los procesos de iniciación deportiva y a su interior la búsqueda de talentos ha sido un as - pecto ampliamente estudiado en los países con alto desarrollo deportivo en el mundo. Sin embargo en Colombia, aunque se han hecho intentos en las últimas tres décadas, por parte del Estado y de la iniciativa privada, el país aún no cuenta con un sistema y una estructura que nos permita detectar, seleccionar y orientar los niños y jóvenes con mejores aptitudes para la práctica exitosa del deporte.

    Es más, los programas estatales como juegos intercolegiados y el trabajo que realizan los organismos deportivos (clubes y ligas) muchas veces logran determinar e introducir en el sistema deportivo los jóvenes deportistas que se destacan, pero el principal problema radica en que muchos de estos niños y niñas talentosos se pierden a lo largo del proceso porque las instituciones (oficiales y privadas) no brindan garantías suficientes a todos los sujetos para que se mantengan en el sistema deportivo.

    Las siguientes reflexiones abordan el tema de la situación en Colombia, aportando fundamentos de otros autores, experiencias, observaciones y propuestas para la implementación de programas de este tipo.

    The topic about sports initiation processes and inside this the search of talents has been an aspect wi - dely studied in countries with high level of sport development in the world. Nevertheless in Colombia, though attempts have been done in the last three decades, on the part of State and private initiative, the country still does not possess a system and structures allows us to detect, to select and to orientate the children and young people with better aptitudes for the successful practice of the sport. It is more, the state programs as intercollegiate games and the work that the sports organisms realize (clubs and leagues) often manage determine and to introduce in the sports system the sports young persons who are outlined, but the principal problem takes root in the way many of these talented children and girls get lost along the process because the institutions (officials and private nature) do not offer sufficient guarantees to all the subjects kept in the sports system. The following reflections approach the topic of this situation in Colombia, contributing foundations from other authors, experiences, observations and offers for the implementation of programs of this type.
