    In the wake of the French Revolution, the state adopted a centralist posture to protect cultural heritage that is still deeply rooted in the actual legislation. Nonetheless, other approaches driven by regional and local authorities are emerging, which are today pervading the heritage field. International law, in its new developments, is also part of this movement.

    La posture centralisatrice de l' État dans la protection du patrimoine culturel engagée au lendemain de la Révolution imprègne encore fortement les textes. Il n'en reste pas moins que d'autres approches émergent sous l' impulsion des collectivités territoriales, qui aujourd'hui, investissent sur des modes renouvelés, le champ patrimonial. Le droit international, dans ses nouveaux développements, accompagne le mouvement.
