Around 1900, while in Italy the nationalist propaganda and antidemocratic ideas were arising, intellectuals and men of letters strove for a new role in the society. Among them, the critic and writer Mario Morass, better known for his connection with Futurism, applied a socio-political interpretation to art and reflected on crucial aspects of Liberty and Symbolism that this text examines and analyzes.
