This article describes a game designed to help Spanish high school students (grade 10, age 15-16) understand the periodic table. It combines some features of bingo and a puzzle in the same pedagogical game, making it an engaging approach for learning about this important teaching tool.
Students are given a verbal clue - the name of a chemical element - that fits with one of the answers on their cards to form three facts about a US state. The game was implemented with 36 students.
The results were interpreted by comparing the answers of the students with which the educational game was implemented with the answers of a second group which did not participate in the educational game but was given the same evaluation. The interactive and light-hearted medium of an educational bingo game can provide motivation for study and enhance learning by the students.
