O património literário e a casa popular algarvia: uma perspetiva turístico-cultural

The growing need to diversify the tourism offer in “sun and sea” coastal regions together with the rise of cultural tourism and of the literary tourism niche leads to the appreciation of regional cultural resources. This paper focuses on the Algarve (Portugal) region, and by linking literary resources and architectural/iconological heritage connected with the algarvian traditional house, aims at presenting opportunities for identity strengthening that will value the tourist experience. Thus, from the content analysis of texts by Raul Brandão, Emiliano da Costa, António Ramos Rosa, Teresa Rita Lopes, Miguel Torga and Yvette K. Centeno, in which the Algarve is the background, we have analysed literary representations of the algarvian vernacular house and identified its characteristics and functions of its architectural elements.
The analysis allowed highlighting the existence of interpretative narratives that reinforce the genius loci or the spirit of the place, stressing the symbiotic association between tangible and intangible heritage

O reconhecimento crescente da necessidade de diversificar a oferta turística de regiões costeiras associadas ao produto sol e mar, a par da ascensão do turismo cultural e do segmento do turismo literário,conduz à consideração da valorização de recursos culturais regionais. Este artigo circunscreve-se à região do Algarve (Portugal) e pretende, através da interligação entre recursos de património literário e arquitetónico/iconológico associados à casa algarvia, apresentar possibilidades de reforço identitário potenciadoras de valorização da experiência turística. Assim, a partir da análise do conteúdo de textos de Raul Brandão, Emiliano da Costa,António Ramos Rosa, Teresa Rita Lopes, Miguel Torga e Yvette K.
Centeno, nos quais o Algarve é o pano de fundo, foram analisadas representações literárias da casa vernacular algarvia identificando-se as características e as funções dos elementos arquitetónicos que a constituem. A análise possibilitou evidenciar a existência de narrativas interpretativas que reforçam o genius loci ou espírito do lugar, pondo em destaque a associação simbiótica entre património tangível e intangível.
