El autor de este artículo analiza el desarrollo fonético de la palabra francesa poireau "puerro", como una evolución no regular, que contiene quizás influencias de una posible etimología popular, que tendría como influencia la palabra poire "pera". La transformación de la palabra se analiza apoyándose en testimonios de la geografía lingüística y de atestaciones en textos del área lingüística picarda, al norte de París.

The author of this article analyzes the phonetic development of the French word poireaux "leeks" as a non-regular evolution, which may contain influences of a possible folk etymology, possibly influenced by the word poire "pear". The transformation of the word is analyzed relying on the testimony of linguistic geography and attestations in texts from the Picard linguistic area, to the north of Paris.
