  • Resumen
    • We describe a hands-on activity about fish adaptation, designed for primary-aged students (ages 7-11) in Portugal, that involves a visit to a fish market (or other outlet selling whole fish) and two practical tasks to be performed in the classroom. The activity, which would also be suitable for older students, focuses on how marine fish are adapted to their environment and way of life. The main activity helps students to discover the biodiversity of marine fish through studying the relationships between their external features and their functions. It also promotes investigative skills such as direct observation, respect for evidence, collection of data and the use of drawing to record real data.
