    Este ensayo analiza las posibilidades que ofrece el arte en la era de la industria cultural para la memoria de la quiebra civilizadora de Auschwitz. El marco de este análisis es la teoría crítica. El punto de partida es la crítica de la imagen en autores como Adorno, Postman o Marcuse. Después el artículo analiza las relaciones entre arte y memoria y su papel en las políticas de la memoria. En el caso de un pasado traumático, arte y memoria se relacionan bajo el signo de una crisis de representación. Esta es la razón de propuestas estéticas de lo sublime. Finalmente se presentan diferentes propuestas artísticas en relación con el marco de problemas teóricos analizados con anterioridad.

    This paper analyzes what are the possibilities of art, in the era of the culture industry, regarding the memory of Auschwitz as a breach of civilization. The framework of this analysis is critical theory. The starting point is the critic of the image by authors such as Adorno, Marcuse or Postman. Further, it analyzes the relations between art and memory and its role in the politics of memory. In the case of a traumatic past, the relationship between art and memory stands under the sign of a crisis of representation. This is reason for the aesthetic proposal of the sublime. Finally, the article analyzes several artistic proposals regarding the framework of the theoretical problems discussed above.
