    En Grecia nace la idea de que la visión racional del mundo es la propiamente humana. Esta idea es el ámbito en el que se ha desarrollado Occidente; es también el ámbito en que se ha desarrollado la filosofía y la ciencia; es, finalmente, el contexto en el que han surgido el cristianismo y el Islam.

    El presente artículo trata de enfocar las relaciones entre fe y razón desde una perspectiva conceptual, considerando que las tesis de Averroes a este respecto son una clave de excepcional importancia para entender no sólo lo que ocurrió en el Islam y en el Occidente cristiano a través del averroísmo (y de averroístas como Tomás de Aquino), sino también lo que pudo haber ocurrido en el mundo islámico.     Thinking that the rational vision of the world is strictly human is an idea born in Greece.

    This idea has been the breeding ground in which western culture has developed; it is also the breeding ground for the development of philosophy and science; it is, finally, the context in which Islam and Christianity have emerged.

    This article tries to focus the relationships between faith and reason from a conceptual perspective, considering that Averroesʼ thesis at this respect are a key of exceptional importance in order to understand, not only what happened in Islam and in Western Christianity through averroism (and averroists such as Thomas Aquinas), but also what could have happened in Islamic world and what could still happen.
