A studied sample population of students showed a predominant trend towards active learning styles and low levels of academic self-efficacy. This paper presents a hypothesis about why learning results did not correspond with the expectancies, even when teaching was designed taking into account the learning style that predominated; we highlight the need to deepen on the influence that can exert the level of academic self-efficacy of a person, given the manifestation of the characteristics of his/her predominant learning style.
