    O presente trabalho é fruto de uma investigação acerca das práticas de avaliação empregadas pelos professores universitários para verificar as aprendizagens de seus alunos no Curso de Pedagogia da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) desde 1938 – ano de sua criação – até 2011, contribuindo para a recuperação de elementos que fazem parte da história, da cultura e da memória desta instituição. Buscamos compreender como os docentes constroem os seus critérios de excelência e de que forma estes são mobilizados na docência, na avaliação das aprendizagens e na formação realizadas no ensino superior. O estudo toma como fontes privilegiadas a documentação da USP e entrevistas com professores e alunos que frequentaram e frequentam o curso no período investigado. Desta forma, realizamos um estudo que possui um caráter histórico e incide também sobre o tempo presente.

    This work is the result of an investigation into the practices of learning evaluation employed by professors to check the learning of their students in the School of Education at the University of São Paulo (USP) since 1938 - the year of its creation - by 2011, contributing to the recovery of elements that are part of history, culture and memory of this institution. We seek to understand how teachers build their criteria of excellence and how these are deployed in teaching, the evaluation of learning and training undertaken in higher education. The study takes as privileged documentation USP sources and interviews with teachers and students who attended and are attending the course in the investigated period. Thus, we conducted a study that has historic character and also focuses on the present time.
