Polymers are currently underrepresented in the undergraduate chemistry curriculum, especially in general chemistry. Nevertheless, there are good reasons and ways to include them in the two-semester (three-quarter) general chemistry course sequence. We describe both a course and a textbook in which polymers and biopolymers are integrated into the general chemistry curriculum.
