  We present an investigation about the elements of teaching identity of teachers who acts in Specialized Educational Attemption. The research is qualitative and the procedure of data collection was the interview. From the analysis of the interviews we identified the elements of teacher identity present in the history of life of these teachers and their impact in practice with students with special educational needs. It was possible to identify the early origins of the desire to be a teacher. And that the difficulties to learn specific content have influence at the choice of area of expertise in teaching and that the affective contact with the teacher is important for the motivation of the learning of the students with special difficulties.

  A pesquisa apresentada neste artigo objetivou identificar e caracterizar os elementos de identidade docente presentes nas falas de professores que atuam no atendimento educacional especializado. A pesquisa é de natureza qualitativa e o procedimento de coleta de dados foi o de entrevista semiestruturada. Doze professoras responderam ao questionário de dados gerais e, dessas, três foram entrevistadas. Na análise das entrevistas identificamos os elementos da identidade docente presentes na história de vida dos professores e suas repercussões na prática com alunos com necessidades educacionais especiais. Foi possível identificar as primeiras origens do desejo de ser professor, que as dificuldades na aprendizagem de conteúdos específicos influenciam na escolha da área de atuação na docência e o contato afetivo com o professor é importante na motivação da aprendizagem do aluno com necessidades educacionais especiais.
