The gradual and increasing integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the Mathematics curriculum has brought major changes that require complex and integrative approaches. In this way, it was intended to study the potential of the use of the programming language, Scratch, in the teaching of geometry, in order to intensify the abstraction necessary to understand the properties of geometric figures. The focus of the investigation is the recognition of the characteristics of the regularpolygons, in what the number of sides is concerned as well as the amplitude of the angles.Thus, the study took a mixed approach, not privileging any of the qualitative or quantitative components. The research involved a group of 20 students from the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (CBE), 2nd grade. The manipulation of the educational tool, Scratch, allowed a better understanding of the contents, intensifying the computational thinking.
A integração gradual e crescente das TIC no currículo de Matemática tem provocado mudanças que exigem abordagens complexas e integradoras. Deste modo, pretendeu-se estudar o potencial da utilização da linguagem de programação, Scratch, no ensino da geometria, de forma a intensificar a abstração necessária à compreensão das propriedades das figuras geométricas. O foco da investigação passa pelo reconhecimento das características dos polígonos regulares, no que concerne ao número de lados e à amplitude dos ângulos. A manipulação da ferramenta educativa, Scratch, permitiu uma melhor compreensão dos conteúdos, potenciando o pensamento computacional.
