This research studies the newsroom organization of the Catalan News Agency (ACN) by comparing it to the Catalan offices of two of the main Spanish news agencies: EFE and Europa Press. The ACN employs a model based on multiskilling, i.e. one journalist carries out different tasks at the same time (e.g. editing, photographing, video recording) in contrast to EFE and Europa Press which have specialized personnel for each task. The survey was conducted interviewing all the journalists of the three agencies. We show that, although still controversial, the ACN has a more cost efficient organization in comparison to EFE and Europa Press which give more priority to the quality of the final product.
