  • Resumen
    • Since the arrival of the first capuchins to Valencia in 1596, a lot of them published written works. The capuchin Father Sollana compiled a list of all this works with the the authors’ biographies until 1963. Some of this capuchin writers were also translators and published translations of very different texts, from saint’s biographies to catechisms or the order’s rules.

The memory of these translators must be preserved in order to recognize the value of their work and to give to the translator’s role the importance that it deserves. In this regard there are many examples of works translated by capuchins from Valencia showing that the translator’s role was sometimes more recognized in the past than nowadays.
