  • The article presents the authors' personal views and reflections regarding the status and trends of applied linguistics scholarship as of the Winter of 2010, drawing on their experiences as editors of a bilingual research journal. The authors note several problems in the field, including increased pressure for scholars to publish frequently, self-plagiarism, and higher competition between "rival" journals.
