  • The author reflects on Open Access (OA) publications and a report by J. Finch and others concerning the transition of publications from current subscription-based business models to an OA model. He states that enthusiasm for OA has resulted in the British government to mandate it for all publicly funded research. He comments that many article submissions to the journal concerning educational technology are self-funded or don't arise directly from funded projects, and mentions alternatives to OA.
