En el presente trabajo se exponen los fundamentos filosóficos del entrenamiento deportivo en los deportes de combate en un intento de erradicar el fraccionamiento, la esquematización, la simplificación que ha marcado a la investigación y análisis del mismo e induce a conceptualizar al deportista como un ser biológico, para así revertir el énfasis exagerado en sus aspectos fisiológicos y biológicos en contraposición a los aspectos psicológicos, sociales y culturales, enriqueciendo la teoría del entrenamiento deportivo, además del horizonte cognitivo del profesional de los deportes de combate. Se muestran los elementos constitutivos de la concepción propuesta a partir de la dialéctica comprensión-explicación-creación (transformación), que integra teoría y práctica en la concepción y el accionar profesional del entrenador en los deportes de combate.
