  • Resumen
    • The advent of renewable energies, electrical vehicles and smart grids are expanding the teaching of Power Electronics intoareas such as mechanical or energy engineering. In this multidisciplinarycontext, the adaptation of the existing resources tothe new profile of students is becoming a major need. Aiming to fill this gap, the University of Malaga offers specificallydesigned multidisciplinary course for students who are unfamiliar with Power Electronics. These courses follow a blendedtop-down approach and use a custom made free-software on-line simulation tool to improve the interactivity andvisualization. The top-down project-based approach allows an active role of the student and the ready-to-use easy javasimulation applets eases the asynchronous study of Power Electronics converters in a friendly environment. The accuracyof the applets is verified by simulation and experimental results and the didactic benefits of the course are demonstrated byquestionnaires and tests.
