Resumen de Estudio del conocimiento léxico en FLE de estudiantes españoles de Secundaria

  Dada la importancia del vocabulario en el aprendizaje de una lengua y la escasez de estudios realizados en el ámbito del francés como lengua extranjera, en este artículo nos proponemos analizar el tamaño del léxico de una muestra de alumnos de Secundaria, estudiar su progreso a lo largo de esa etapa educativa y caracterizarlo desde el punto de vista de la frecuencia. Para ello, empleamos una adaptación al francés del test X_Lex (Meara y Milton, 2003), ya utilizada en otras investigaciones realizadas sobre la misma lengua. Los resultados indican que, a pesar de que de modo general el vocabulario aumenta de un curso a otro, sólo existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas en el vocabulario del alumnado de 1º de Bachillerato con respecto a los cursos anteriores, revelándose un patrón de desarrollo similar al puesto de manifiesto en otros estudios (Milton, 2006; David, 2008). Asimismo, constatamos la influencia de la frecuencia en el vocabulario aprendido por los participantes en el estudio.

  Given the importance of vocabulary in the language learning and the scarcity of studies carried out in the field of French as a foreign language, our purpose in this article is, on the one hand, to analyze the vocabulary size of a sample of Spanish Secondary students and, on the other hand, to study their progress during such an educational stage, using for that an adaptation to French of the test X_Lex (Meara and Milton, 2003). The results show that although, in a general way, the vocabulary increases from one course to the other, there are only statistically significant differences in the students’ vocabulary from First course of Bachillerato with respect to the previous courses, revealing a developmental pattern similar to that brought to light in other studies (David, 2008; Milton, 2006). Likewise, we verify the influence of the frequency on the vocabulary learned by the participants in the study.
