Resumen
The events of Cambodia were forgotten, and they were discussed again during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A book that reported on the military events in that country, shortly after they had taken place, is “La breve y verdadera relación de los sucesos del Reyno de Camboxa al Rey Don Philipe nuestro Señor”, written by Fray Gabriel de San Antonio of the Order of St. Dominic, and published in Valladolid in 1604. This text was too difficult to locate and was practically inaccessible to the general public for a long time. Until 1914, a French translation has appeared in charge of Antoine Cabaton, together with extensive preliminary study and very abundant notes. The aim of this work is to describe the history of the French translation of the book and the missions of Dominican friars in Cambodia during the 16th century.
