Crítica productiva de dos versiones en español de “The Holy Innocents” de Robert Lowell

    Este trabajo pretende ofrecer una crítica productiva, siguiendo al teórico francés Antoine Berman, de dos traducciones del célebre poema “The Holy Innocents” de Robert Lowell al español. Robert Lowell no es sólo uno de los poetas más importantes de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, sino que también ha sido traducido al español en varias ocasiones. Las dos versiones seleccionadas fueron realizadas por traductores poetas y académicos, así que resultó interesante observar las variaciones que una y otra presentaron a pesar de la similitud entre perfiles traductores. La comparación entre traducciones se hizo siguiendo el sistema de analítica de la traducción propuesto por Berman. Al realizar la crítica se tomó en cuenta el análisis hermenéutico del poema, la posición de los traductores y el proyecto de traducción —también siguiendo a Berman— para apreciar las distintas lecturas subjetivas que se presentaron en cada traducción.

    This work aims to offer a productive criticism, following the French theorist Antoine Berman, of the translations of the poem "The Holy Innocents" by Robert Lowell into Spanish. Robert Lowell is not only one of the most important poets of the second half of the twentieth century, but has also been rendered into Spanish on several occasions. The two versions were made by translators who were also poets and academics. The comparison between translations was made following the system of analytical translation by Berman. When carrying out the criticism, the hermeneutical analysis of the poem, the position of the translators and the translation project were taken into account —also according to Berman— in order to appreciate the different subjective readings that are presented in each translation.
