Resumen de The Perceptions of African-American Students: recruitment, retention, and motivation

Li-Chun Lin, Pender Noriega

  • This study sought to understand the perceptions of African-American students toward them-selves, their educational preparation, and other perceptions pertaining to the hospitality industry. It is noted that more students looked for positions in the lodging industry than in the food and beverage industry. The results of this study seem to indicate that African-American students have a positive perception toward their educational preparation and their future in the hospitality industry. However, the reality is the industry still faces the challenge of developing minority managers for the industry.
