    • This paper is concerned with some of the problems that mathematics learners experience, particularly in continuing education We give evidence that inadequacy of teaching provision may cause psychological problems which lower students’ capacity to learn and contribute to their negative feelings toward mathematics Reasons for this state of affairs are explored and certain suggestions for improvement are made The social and political aspects of this phenomenon are also considered
