    El artículo trata acerca de la identidad deportiva como factor determinante en la formación de los karatecas. La investigación está motivada por la falta de conocimientos relacionados con los atributos identitarios identificados en atletas y entrenadores de este arte marcial, principalmente durante el proceso de formación inicial, así como de los elementos que favorezcan a los segundos, la funcionalidad de esta variable en el logro del equilibrio entre condición física y comportamiento deportivo. Estas irregularidades posibilitaron identificar como problema científico: ¿Cuáles son los fundamentos y referentes teóricos acerca de la identidad deportiva que sustentan la formación de los karatecas?. El estudio se realiza a partir del empleo de la metodología cualitativa, mediante el método experiencial vivencial y la indagación bibliográfica, con el objetivo de elaborar nuevas aproximaciones en torno al tema que sirvan de base para las propuestas formativas de carácter proyectivo en este arte.

    The article deals with the sports identity as a determining factor in the formation of karateka. The research is motivated by the lack of knowledge related to the identity attributes identified in athletes and coaches of this martial art, mainly during the initial training process, as well as the elements that favor the latter, the functionality of this variable in the achievement of balance between physical condition and sports behavior. These irregularities made it possible to identify as a scientific problem: What are the foundations and theoretical references about the sports identity that sustains the formation of karateka? The study is carried out from the use of the qualitative methodology, by means of the experiential method and the bibliographical investigation, with the objective of elaborating new approaches around the topic that serve as base for the formative proposals of projective character in this art.
