  • Resumen
    • The process of teaching and learning pneumatic control engineering for industrial automation systems is often difficult. Problems arise with the fundamental understanding of internationally agreed symbols, and how the various states which sensors, logic elements and actuators can take, affect the combinational or sequential logic at any point in space and time. A computer package has been produced by the Department of Engineering Production for use in computer‐based training (CBT), which assists the process of teaching and learning. In addition to drawing a circuit it is possible to observe on a VDU how the logic states change and how this change is dependent upon the particular design being evaluated. Thus, sequential state control system design can now be taught, demonstrated and used in a learning environment which has an element of concurrency with the subject being studied. The facilities provided by the package mark a considerable improvement upon more traditional methods of teaching and provide the only effective method for a single learner system in this subject.
