The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) at Plymouth Polytechnic was designated in 1973, with the polytechnic library as its nucleus, and the shape of its future activities determined by its initial aim ‘to stimulate innovation in learning and teaching in the Polytechnic, through appropriate services, research and development’. Now, 13 years later, the Centre plays an important role in the work of the institution, though its structure, organization and services have all had to evolve in keeping with the changing needs of the institution, its students and staff.
