Interactive video disc (IVD) technology has now captured the imagination of both teachers and trainers in education and industry. We can now call video signals on to the computer screen, superimpose graphics and text, use the touch screen or other devices to interact with the materials and collect statistics and feedback data about our activities. Developing IVD discware requires a new understanding of computer, video and educational technology. By 1990 IVD will be an integral part of every household unit. It will entertain, teach, train and provide a window into the world outside. We can interact with that world through our unit to do our shopping, banking, to attend a course or even browse through a museum.
