    Los ingenieros de distintas especialidades, y en especial los industriales, trabajan en el diseño, desarrollo, control y mejora de una gran variedad de productos, sistemas y procesos, muchos de los cuales están interconectados. En todos ellos, la variabilidad y la incertidumbre están presentes. El pensamiento estadístico provee el conocimiento empírico que completa al conocimiento ingenieril y de ahí la importancia de comenzar a desarrollarlo durante la formación de grado. Este trabajo se centra en un primer curso de Estadística orientado en esa línea y propone objetivos a alcanzar basados en la definición integral de pensamiento estadístico propuesta por Wild y Pfannkuch en 1999. El logro de estos objetivos se apoya en la resolución de problemas y en la comprensión de los conceptos y herramientas estadísticos, ambos pilares importantes en el desarrollo de este pensamiento

    Engineers from different specialties, and especially industrialists, work in the design, development, control and improvement of a wide variety of products, systems and processes, many of which are interconnected. In all of them, variability and uncertainty are present. Statistical thinking provides the empirical knowledge that completes engineering knowledge and hence the importance of beginning to develop it during undergraduate training. This work focuses on a first course of Statistics oriented in that line and proposes objectives to be reached based on the integral definition of statistical thinking proposed by Wild and Pfannkuch in 1999.

    The achievement of these objectives is based on the resolution of problems and on the understanding of statistical concepts and tools, both important pillars in the development of Statistical thinking.
