Importancia de la disponibilidad de libros de ciencias con enfoque ECBI en la Educación Primaria española

    La enseñanza de las ciencias basada en indagación (ECBI) ha mostrado buenos resultados y en la formación inicial de maestros en España se incluye este enfoque pedagógico. Sin embargo, en las escuelas españolas se utiliza el libro como guía principal y los nuevos maestros acaban adaptándose a esta práctica. Actualmente, los libros españoles de ciencias de Educación Primaria no poseen un enfoque ECBI mayoritariamente. Los nuevos maestros argumentan la falta de tiempo para el uso de la ECBI porque tienen que "terminar el libro". Nosotros proponemos la necesidad de libros de ciencias que empleen ECBI para una transferencia efectiva a la práctica de esta metodología junto con el uso del libro como referente, al igual que en países como EU.

    Inquiry-based science education (IBSE) has shown good results and formation in this methodology is offered to pre-service teachers in the Spanish Universities.

    However, the common practice in the Spanish schools is to use the textbooks as the main guideline. When the new teachers start their professional careers, they also get adapt to this practice. Most of the natural science textbooks used nowadays in the Spanish Primary Education do not include IBSE and so, the desired pedagogical transfer to practice is not happening. Quite often, the new teachers argue the lack of time for IBSE approaches because are time-consuming and they additionally have to “finish the book”. Thus, we propose the need for IBSE textbooks as in other countries. This strategy will definitively help teachers to combine the convenient use of textbooks and the development of scientific skills necessary for students to investigate, discover and understand their world.
