Resumen de La integración normativa como problema de la gramática contrastiva: el caso de la correferencia parcial

Carsten Sinner

  • Remarkably, dianormative aspects – such as acceptability, grammaticality, and normative inclusion – are not usually mentioned as criteria to be considered in contrastive linguistics. This paper deals with the divergences in description and prescription of partial co-reference in German and Spanish, with its normative status in both languages, and the consequences of this for comparing the two languages. The contribution first tackles the problem of the lack of consideration given to normative issues and degrees of grammaticality and acceptability in contrastive linguistics. This is followed by a description of partial co-reference in German and Spanish and the way the phenomenon is dealt with both in linguistic description and prescription. Finally, it is argued that comparative linguistics, foreign language teaching and translator training all need to take the dianormative divergences between the two languages into account.
