Resumen de Teoría y práctica de la traducción: un ejemplo de interrelación en la traducción de Die Wand, de Marlen Haushofer

La presente contribución plantea que, ante determinados encargos, la teoría y la práctica de la traducción pueden interrelacionarse de una manera fructífera. La teoría que las traductoras conocen puede ofrecer distintas posibilidades para abordar la obra. Además, puede servir para formalizar sus experiencias al traducir. Al mismo tiempo, la labor de traducción puede llevarlas a ahondar en sus conocimientos teóricos y a reflexionar sobre ellos. Para ilustrar esta interrelación de teoría y práctica se tomará como ejemplo la traducción de la novela Die Wand, de la escritora austriaca Marlen Haushofer, traducida por la autora de este artículo.

This contribution contemplates the possibility of translation theory and prac-tice being fruitfully interrelated to one another given certain projects. The theoretical background that translators are familiar with can bring new possibilities when approach-ing their work. It can also serve to formalize their translation experiences. The work of translation can simultaneously lead them to delve into their theoretical knowledge and to reflect upon it. With the aim of illustrating the interrelationship between theory and practice, the translation of the novel Die Wand, which was written by the Austrian writer Marlen Haushofer and translated by the author of the following article, shall be taken as an example.
