    La producción literaria melquita en lengua árabe, atestiguadaen muestras manuscritas desde mediados del siglo VIII y finales delsiglo IX, es fiel reflejo de la tradición cristiana anterior. La herenciade la Patrística se hace evidente en el campo de la exégesis, donde lacomunidad melquita va a actuar de intermediaria en el legado de laactividad comentarista de los Padres griegos y siriacos, reproduciendoen árabe la actividad anteriormente realizada por éstos.

    The Melkite literary production in Arabic language, whichis known through manuscript evidence since both the middle of the 8thcentury and the end of the 9th century, is a faithful mirror of theprevious Christian literary tradition. The heritage of Patristic literatureis apparent in the realm of the exegesis, where the Melkite communityacts as intermediary in the transfer of the commentary work done bythe Greek and the Syrian Fathers, which involves translating into theArabic language the activity previously carried out by them.
