  • Resumen
    • This work test the effect of four ratios of protein:energy (140, 127, 113 and control-120 g PDIN/UFC) on growth and conversion ratio of merino male and female lambs in the initial phase of fattening. The interaction between the ratio of protein:energy and sex of the lamb was not significant for all the parameters evaluated. Regarding the effect of the protein:energy ratio, there was a better response for 140 g PDIN/UFC concentrate in the first week, but later this effect diluted with no differences in the feed conversion ratio between ratios. According to these technical results it would be recommendable to feed merino lambs with a ratio of 140 g PDIN/UFC in startup phase of fattening, to a maximum weight of 23 kg in males and 20 kg in females. From these weights, the ratio could be diminished to 120 g PDIN / UFC
