The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two different diets based on flax and vitamin E additives in comparison with a control group supplemented with a diet free of polyunsaturated fatty acids and phenolic compounds. Thirty sheep were divided in these three groups. Body weight (BW) and biochemical values (ALT and GGT hepatic enzymes) were studied. Faecal eggs excretion was also analysed and parasitic forms were collected and counted after measuring other hepatic ganglionar aspects. After analysing the analysis of variance (ANOVA) test, significant differences were found in relation to the BW (P<0.05) and the arithmethical mean of flukes recovered (P<0.01) with higher values in the control group, and in biochemical values during the week 4 postinfection (P<0.01) with upper enzymatic activities in groups supplemented with flax oil and vitamin E (tocopherol).
