Percepción socioambiental sobre el derrame de petróleo en el litoral peruano en 2022

    El derrame de petróleo del 15 de enero de 2022, ocurrido en el terminal marítimo de la refinería La Pampilla, administrada por la empresa Repsol, ha provocado diversos impactos ambientales en la costa peruana, afectando los hábitats y recursos hidrobiológicos; y, además, ha repercutido en problemas sociales entre los pobladores que residen en las zonas costeras. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la percepción de la población sobre la situación socioambiental producida por el derrame de petróleo en el litoral peruano. La investigación fue de enfoque cuantitativo. Se encuestó a 1554 pobladores de Ancón, Santa Rosa, Ventanilla y Aucallama, aplicando un instrumento validado de 21 preguntas, que para el estudio se emplearon 8 ítems. Los resultados mostraron que el derrame petrolero produjo a) sentimientos de indignación; b) la exclusión de productos marinos de la dieta alimenticia; c) la intensión de protestar contra los responsables por el derrame de petróleo si se convocaba una marcha y d) que el ciudadano es importante para resarcir el daño ambiental. Aunque también, se consideró e) como improbable cualquier visita familiar a las playas afectadas; f) el impacto negativo en la salud de la población residente y la atención de sus necesidades más urgentes; y g) el alto nivel de conciencia ambiental que mostraron los afectados.

    The oil spill that occurred on January 15, 2022, at the maritime terminal of the La Pampilla refinery, managed by the Repsol company, has caused various environmental impacts on the Peruvian coast, affecting habitats and hydrobiological resources. In addition, it has affected social problems among the inhabitants who reside in the coastal areas. This research aimed to analyze the population's perception of the socio-environmental situation caused by the oil spill on the Peruvian coast. The research was quantitative approach. 1554 residents of Ancón, Santa Rosa, Ventanilla, and Aucallama were surveyed, applying a validated instrument of 21 questions, which used 8 items for the study. The results showed that the oil spill produced a) feelings of outrage, b) the exclusion of marine products from the diet, c) the intention to protest against those responsible for the oil spill if a march was called, and d) that the citizen is important to compensate environmental damage. Although it was also considered e) as improbable any family visit to the affected beaches, f) the negative impact on the health of the resident population and attention to their most urgent needs, and g) the high level of environmental awareness shown by those affected.
