La participación de los niños y niñas en el marco de la educación infantil: algunas coordenadas para su práctica efectiva

    La participación infantil es un derecho reconocido por la Convención de los Derechos del Niño (1989). Sin embargo, la escucha a la infancia sigue siendo un desafío a afrontar. En este trabajo se realiza una reflexión sobre la importancia de la participación de los niños y niñas en el marco de la educación infantil concibiendo la escuela infantil como un foro privilegiado para dar voz a la infancia, un espacio donde aprender a participar, tener la oportunidad de experimentar la democracia y ejercer influencia desde lo cotidiano. Además de abordar los beneficios de la participación infantil o por qué esta es necesaria, se presentan coordenadas o aspectos clave a contemplar para favorecer la participación infantil en el ámbito escolar y en la investigación educativa, con el objetivo de promover procesos de innovación y mejora educativa que, mediante las aportaciones de los niños, ayuden a construir otra escuela más amable, más cercana y democrática, donde las voces de todos sus habitantes sean escuchadas. Las coordenadas que presentamos en este artículo esperamos que puedan servir también para posibilitar un conocimiento emergente de la infancia actual, de sus intereses y demandas.

    Child participation is a right recognized by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989). However, listening to childhood is still a challenge to face. This work reflects on the importance of the participation of boys and girls in the framework of Early Childhood Education, conceiving the Nursery School as a privileged forum to give a voice to children, a space where they learn to participate, have the opportunity to experience democracy and exert influence from the everyday. In addition to addressing the benefits of child participation or why it is necessary, coordinates or key aspects to consider are presented to promote children's participation in the school environment and in educational research, with the aim of promoting processes of innovation and educational improvement that through the contributions of the children they help to build another school, kinder, closer and more democratic, where the voices of all its inhabitants are heard. We hope that the coordinates that we present in this article can also serve to enable an emerging knowledge of current childhood, of their interests and demands.
