    El artículo muestra el resultado parcial de una investigación sobre la educación y socialización del patrimonio en los centros históricos urbanos. Su objetivo es socializar el resultado del diagnóstico sobre el estado actual de la educación patrimonial en los miembros de la comunidad del Centro Histórico Urbano de Matanzas. Se asumió un enfoque mixto, con predominio cualitativo desde la concepción metodológica de la educación popular. Se emplearon los métodos histórico-lógico, analítico-sintético e inductivo-deductivo, el análisis de documentos, la observación, la entrevista, el cuestionario, además de técnicas participativas. Los principales resultados evidencian las fortalezas y debilidades de las acciones de educación patrimonial que se realizan en el contexto matancero y la percepción de tal proceso por los miembros de la comunidad. Se considera que la educación patrimonial permite el desarrollo de acciones educativas con enfoque interdisciplinario; constituye un instrumento para la apropiación, conservación y trasmisión del legado construido y heredado; permite fortalecer el compromiso social en relación a las culturas locales y que los miembros de la comunidad se conviertan en agentes transformadores de la sociedad.

    The article shows the partial result of an investigation on the education and socialization of the heritage in the urban historical centers. Their objective is to socialize the result of the diagnosis on the current state of the heritage education in the members of the community of the Urban Historical Center of Matanzas. A mixed focus was assumed, with qualitative prevalence from the methodological conception of the popular education. The historical-logical, analytic-synthetic and inductive-deductive methods were used, the analysis of documents, the observation, the interview, the questionnaire, besides technical of participation. The main results evidence the strengths and weaknesses of the actions of heritage education that are carried out in the context matancero and the perception of such a process for the members of the community. It is considered that the heritage education allows the development of educational actions with interdisciplinary focus; it constitutes an instrument for the appropriation, conservation and transmission of the built and inherited legacy; it allows to strengthen the social commitment in relation to the local cultures and that the members of the community become agents’ transformers of the society.
