Nelson Estupiñán Bass: reposicionando su obra desde el realismo fantástico al afrofuturismo en Ecuador

    El artículo sitúa la obra del afroecuatoriano Nelson Estupiñán Bass en el marco de la ciencia ficción y el afrofuturismo. Se considera que, entendiendo su posicionamiento dentro del realismo fantástico con sesgo político, se puede hacer una lectura de su visión del afroecuatorianismo relacionada con la idea de futuro y futurización. Se descubre que es un autor preocupado por la contradicción entre realidad vivida y realidad encumbrada por la tecnociencia: una es la realidad de los oprimidos afrodescendientes y otra la de imaginación futurista moderna. Ello no le impide analizar las ideas sobre los modelos de utopía: si es preferible una utopía que recupere el pasado o la que promete el neoliberalismo, modelos que deberán ser motivo de discusión para la comunidad afro. Así mismo, se constata de su necesidad de innovar la novela con sus propuestas basadas en el materialismo dialéctico para provocar la conciencia crítica del lector.

    The article places the work of Afro-Ecuadorian Nelson Estupiñán Bass within the framework of science fiction and Afrofuturism. It is considered that, understanding his position within fantastic realism with a political bias, it is possible to make a reading of his vision of Afro-Ecuadorianism related to the idea of the future and futurization. It is discovered that he is an author concerned about the contradiction between lived reality and reality exalted by technoscience: one is the reality of oppressed Afro-descendants and the other is that of modern futuristic imagination. This does not prevent him from analyzing the ideas about the models of utopia: if a utopia that recovers the past or the one promised by neoliberalism is preferable, models that should be the subject of discussion for the Afro community. Likewise, it is confirmed that he needs to innovate the novel with his proposals based on dialectical materialism to provoke the critical conscience of the reader.
