    El depósito legal es una obligación jurídica esencial para facilitar la conservación del acervo cultural de un país, pero además, al hacer posible que los ciudadanos puedan acceder a las publicaciones objeto del depósito, se constituye como un medio idóneo para proteger las libertades de expresión y de información. En este trabajo nos centraremos en analizar, principalmente desde el punto jurídico, los cambios introducidos en la normativa española sobre depósito legal en la reforma legislativa promulgada en 2022. El objetivo de esta reforma ha sido adaptar la ley de depósito legal española a la realidad editorial y de mercado actual, una realidad que evoluciona muy rápidamente, arrastrada por la vertiginosa velocidad con la que se producen actualmente las innovaciones tecnológicas.

    Legal deposit is an essential legal obligation to facilitate the preservation of a country's cultural heritage, but it is also an ideal means of protecting the freedoms of expression and information by allowing citizens access to publications. In this work, we will focus on analysing, mainly from a legal point of view, the changes introduced in the Spanish legal deposit regulations by the legislative reform enacted in 2022. The aim of this reform was to adapt the Spanish legal deposit legislation to the current editorial and market reality, a reality that is evolving very rapidly, driven by the dizzying speed with which technological innovations are currently being produced.
