The inclined plane is one of the basic building blocks of introductory mechanics, and is so common in everyday life that we tend not to notice it. The inclined plane in Fig. 1 was just too obvious to overlook! We discovered this wonderful inclined plane connecting the two buildings of a high school in Winslow, Arkansas. In this article, I will remind myself of the many times that I have encountered the inclined plane in my courses, my old physics texts, and the many apparatus catalogs in my collection.
